Ron Asheton, original guitarist for The Stooges was found dead in his Ann Arbor, Mich. home of a reported heart attack on January 6th, 2009, having died several days earlier. He was 60. Bummer - all my heroes are dying. Joey, Dee Dee and Jonny Ramone, Joe Strummer, John Entwistle, and the list goes on.
Played a show last night at Local 506 with some good bands, Butterflies and Deleted Scenes from the Washington DC area. They were great, we weren't so great - my guitar kept going out in the middle of our songs which was rather embarrassing, but I guess that's why they call us Embarrassing Fruits. Another highlight of the show was a stranger The Shadow Man hoppin' on stage to play harmonica with us on 2 songs - I have no idea who that guy was, but I guess it added some comic relief to the awkwardness.
For our encore we played TV EYE by the Stooges as a tribute to Mr. Asheton.
