Here's a movie called "Waiting For Something" about the musician Jay Reatard, an interesting young guy who's been writing and recording his own stuff since he was 14 - welcome to the club. When I first saw his name mentioned a couple years ago I thought it would sound like it looked - another worthless pitchfork hype bullshit artist. Upon listening, I really actually got into his stuff, and then found out he has a huge back-catalog of weird recordings - everything from straight ahead punk to beautiful lush pop songs. Watching this short film I realize I almost 100% agree w/ him when it comes to a lot of things - why do I tour/keep wanting to put out records both on my own and w/ bands? Why am i never satisfied w/ the goals I do achieve when it comes to what I want to do artistically? Plus this dude just knows how to write a fucking catchy tune, and that's all we can hope for sometimes I guess.
If you enjoyed that and want to see how the Reatards tears it up live follow this link.
