"Singer/guitarist Alex Chilton died Wednesday of a heart attack. He was 59. The musician, known for his output with the Box Tops and his lesser-known but influential rock band Big Star, died unexpectedly in New Orleans. Big Star was expected to play the South by Southwest festival in Austin on Saturday."

Bummer...one of the last great song writers is w/ us no more. I just recently got super obsessed w/ the music of Big Star, especially their first album - the cleverly titled "#1 Record." You may know them as the band who wrote the theme song for That 70's Show (recorded by Cheap Trick though for some reason). If you've never heard Big Star, I suggest you drop everything and do so. Today would be a good start. Here's a couple videos of the man himself.
