White Music

No, I'm not being racist, that's the title of the new 5 song album by Opening Flower Happy Bird. If you've never heard OFHB before here's a little background: Matt and Brian used to make music by emailing each other audio files from Richmond to wherever Brian was living at the time, building really cool dorky sound collages and 80's synth pop masterpieces with a post punk / no wave flavor. Then they moved to Chapel hill and began working like beasts, releasing 2 albums. Here's a few of their "influences" : Fragle Rock, Long Hot Showers, The Outer Limits of your Mind, Hitting the Snooze Button, Smashing the Alarm Clock, Ocean City Maryland, The very first Lalapaloza, Cooly D, Talent, Success, Whole Wheat.

I discovered them on Myspace about 2 years ago when I was looking for bands to record on the radio. They showed up and played, blowing my mind, because they were as dorky as I'd hoped, and they sounded better in the FLESH than their crappy mp3s. Fast forward to present day, the dudes have broken up and left us with a last ditch effort, the surprisingly refreshing WHITE MUSIC. I like it, it's good to listen to in your car. Download it and you may feel the same way. When you're done ripping them off by way of me, go check out their Myspace page and buy something. They are good dudes, I know them very personally.

Sideprojects of note: Matt now plays w/ his gf Ginger in Veelee They're awesome.
Brian does his own thing with Ealing Acton which is also neat if you like Gang Gang Dance, and more psyched out stuff.
